ALCA - BREEDER(S) CODE OF ETHICS

Love and respect for the Australian Labradoodle and its careful development is inherent in the

membership of the Australian Labradoodle Club of America. Therefore, all members agree to

foster the goals set forth in the Code of Ethics.

I will ensure that all dogs in my keeping will have all their physical and emotional needs met.

This will include:

Appropriate food, water, shelter (clean space and appropriate temperatures)

• Exercise

• Protection from bodily harm

• Human contact

• Appropriate stimulation

  1. As a responsible Breeder, all dogs in my care shall receive proper and routine Veterinary care

  2. I will maintain accurate records of all care rendered or be able to readily obtain the records from my veterinarian.

  3. I agree to supervise all dogs in my care for safety to the best of my ability.

  4. I agree to test all dogs for genetic diseases relevant to the breed prior to breeding and will clearly state what testing has been done.

  5. I will not sell or trade with any commercial animal wholesalers or retail pet dealers, nor place any dogs in Animal Shelters, but will be committed to find a safe and secure home for all dogs and puppies that leave my facility.

  6. I will spay/neuter all pups that are sold as companion family members. In the event puppy is not spay/neutered prior to leaving my facility, I will provide a contract stating the spay or neuter surgery must be completed not later than the pet reaching six months of age. If I feel that the family cannot enforce or follow up with the added amendment of up to six months for spay/neuter then I have the option to revert to ESN prior to the puppy leaving my facility.

  7. I agree to furnish the document for verification of spay/neuter. The new owner must give the veterinarian providing the spay/neuter surgery the confirmation form which verifies the date of surgery.

  8. This form or other verification must be returned to the breeder with the veterinarian's signature affixed, at which time the breeder will furnish the new owner with transfer of ownership documents and pedigree for their records. Pet puppies may not be registered by the new owner until such time as the spay/neuter takes place and is documented.

  9. I agree to maintain the signed form in my records and submit to ALCA upon request.

  10. I will tattoo and/or microchip all puppies sold prior to them leaving my facility.

  11. I will register all litters within 30 days of birth with the ALCA.

  12. I will provide to the families, and a copy to the ALCA, written details of dietary needs, training, grooming and veterinary care for all families.

  13. I will provide the ALCA a written copy of my contract and guarantee.

  14. I agree to keep accurate breeding records, registration papers and pedigrees.

  15. I agree to be available to buyers for whatever advice or reasonable aid or assistance they may need for the life of the dog.

I further agree not to defame another member, nor seek to impair their reputation.  In addition, I shall inform an Officer or Board Member of any serious situation that is detrimental to the breed or is inconsistent with the ALCA principle

As a Breeder Member of the ALCA, I will breed toward the Breed Standard as set by the ALCA for the future development and protection of the Australian Labradoodle and follow this Code of Ethics.

Any member seeking to impair the reputation of a member, whether by name or not, to impair the reputation of a particular dog, or another's breeding program, shall be subject to immediate expulsion from membership.
